Youth Triathlon

Sunday was the annual Youth Triathlon.  Will's 4th, Kylie's 2nd (but 1st all by herself).  It is a 50 yd. swim, a 1.6 mile bike ride and a .75 mile trail run.

Since being on the swim team for 2 weeks, they are both amazing swimmers.  Kylie swam her 50 yards and got dressed to bike in 4:53.  Will did it in 3:25.  That is their time from the "go" to swim to when they got on their bike to ride, so it includes their getting their shoes and shirts and helmets on.

Will biked the 1.6 miles in 10:05 and Kylie (who needs a new, bigger bike) did it in 17:04.

After the bike, they park their bike, take off their helmet, drink water, and run on the trail.  Will did that run in 8:04 and Kylie did it in 10:28.  They were both so proud of themselves this year.  In the past, Will has been down on himself for not getting 1st, 2nd or 3rd.  He was 5th in his age group this year, but that is awesome, considering the first year he did it, he was dead last of everyone.

Kylie's Preschool Graduation

I guess I'm way behind on blogging here.  So, last Thursday, Kylie graduated Preschool. She has grown and changed and learned a lot in the last school year.  Her last day of Preschool was actually yesterday, a week after graduation.  She handled graduation so well considering she spent the day at school, then outside in blazing heat at a track meet Mom had to work at and then she went to swim team just to help another little girl who was scared to get in the water the day before.

She did so well and was so grown up.  Afterwards, she went right back to spunky, fun Kylie, getting Becky to do pull ups with her and besides herself with excitement to see Miss Melissa, who was the nursery director when Kylie was a baby and has recently left the Y to start another job.  She came back at Kylie's request for graduation.

Kylie had amazing teachers this year, and on Friday, she sobbed her heart out to leave school.  She was screaming and crying in the car the whole way home that she did not want summer, did not want Kindergarten and PLEASE TURN THIS CAR AROUND RIGHT NOW!

She has recovered now and seems ready for summer.
