Fall is here

Strep is gone, fall is here.  The kids are loving the afternoons of no humidity and beautiful weather to cruise around the backyard on their quads doing yard work.

Strep and Soccer

Poor Will came down with strep throat at school yesterday and had to leave early.  After laying in his bed half asleep/half awake for 3 hours, Mom called the doctor to try to get a strep test done before the weekend.  We love our pediatrician who said, "Bring him right now!"  Off we went to find there were, in fact, bad guys hiding in the back of Will's throat.  We had to meet Daddy to drop the van off to be fixed, so Will managed to vomit in each car before we made it home to put him to bed after medicine.

So, no soccer for him this morning.  Mom and Ky headed out to her soccer class only to find that Coach Morgan wasn't there and Coach Chris was taking over for the day.  Kylie asked him a million questions to verify that he knew what to do to run the class to her standards.

She is an amazingly good listener at class.  She follows these multiple step directions and always remembers where she is supposed to go and what to do with the equipment.

and when we got home, yay!!!  Will was feeling better!  He's even dancing around the house again this afternoon, which means our real Will is back!

Apples 2012

Today was the day for our annual apple picking adventure that we started when we moved to VA.  Will was up at the crack of dawn ready to hit the road.  His little mind must never stop working all night long, since we told him late last night after the bonfire that we might go apple picking today.

It was a beautiful day at the orchard.  Last year, when we went, it was SO WINDY and cold that no one really wanted the trip to drag on and we ended up eating lunch and snacks in the car to warm up.  This year, we were taking layers of clothes off by lunch time, which we ate outside on a picnic table.

Will ate a good deal of the apples that he picked, even turning one into a scary face as he munched.

We were able to use the camera's timer to get some pretty nice family shots.  The bright sun and trees made for some tough shadows, but we still got everyone looking in the right direction without a photographer!

and even smiling all at the same time!

Daddy picked this "baby apple" and was so proud...until he decided to taste it!  Yuck!

Since we hid out in the car last year, we didn't do the tractor tour that they have of the hillside and orchard, so Will was all about that this year.  It was beautiful to ride on the hayride through the orchard and see the valley below!

And then it was Daddy's favorite part:  apple cider donuts!  Warm and fresh from the oven by the dozen.

Now, who wants apple pie?
