Kylie's Pinkalicious Party

Last week was a bust for school.  There was no school Thursday the 13th or Friday the 14th.  Monday and Tuesday were 2 hour delays.  Once again, we have no gone to school a full week since November.  When there are 2 hour delays, Kylie does not have school.  So, her Valentine's party was postponed by an entire week.  She finally had it this Friday and Mom popped in the the party after working out and tutoring someone.

Kylie is so amazing in the classroom.  She follows directions, knows all the words and songs, can recognize words and names, and his bursting with pride at all of this.  She is the youngest in her class by more than a month.  By next week, she'll be the only 3 year old left in the class, but you cannot tell that from watching her.  Also, her class is all girls.  So fun!

They had a pink party with pink food and Valentine's.

First Friend Sleepover!

Daddy and Will spent the day together today, a first for them!  They headed out after breakfast and stopped at Bass Pro Shop, a HUGE outdoor gear store in between our house and Richmond.  It has a huge aquarium and waterfall, pond, boats, laser shooting range, restaurant, and a million things to look at and do.  After that, they headed to Monster Jam!  There are no photos and very little stories from the boys, but it appears they both had a great time.  While they were gone, Mom and Kylie went to the Y so Mom could run and then went to the pet store (Kylie's choice) and out to lunch.  It was then on to swimming class where Kylie was shown a new skill which she promptly mastered on the first try.  She gets a sticker every time she masters a skill and she is getting 1-2 stickers a week these days.  She is completely blowing their program out of the water, as a 3 year old in level 5, almost 6.  After swimming, our friends arrived for a sleepover.  We ordered pizza, played outside, played inside, and watched a movie with popcorn.  Presumably, everyone will sleep well tonight?  Fingers crossed.

A sledding we will go

Yesterday's plans to sled on the big local hill were foiled by rain/sleet/some sort of weird freezing snow stuff all day.  We swam instead and Kylie mastered another skill at her swimming class!  She can now swim streamlined with her head looking down for 15yrds.  Amazing!

Today, it was blue skies and it wasn't too cold so we made after lunch plans to check out the "big hill".

Everyone was happy with what we found.  The hill was pretty icy now, making for some bumpy rides and some spills, but everyone had a great and tiring time.

The girls tired of the sleds after a bit and preferred to just roll down and slide down on their bottoms.

Then, they all tired and ate snow for a while.

Another Snow(man) Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

It was another snow day here.  Dad was originally supposed to go to work at noon, but got permission to stay home.  He got out there and played this morning and the kids were so thrilled.

and the dog.

We finally made that snowman we've been trying to make all winter.  He was a big guy!

We did a lot of sledding and walked up and down the street having snowball fights, using the piles made by the plow/digger as forts.

Kylie prefers to pretend to be a penguin rather than use an actual sled.

After many, many hours outside, Mom went for a run (and it was 53 degrees out!) while the kids watched a movie.  We have plans to sled on a much bigger hill tomorrow as well as swimming lessons.  Happy Valentine's Day!
