Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the cutest giraffe and friendliest Batman! Will wore his costume to school today for the Halloween celebration, and Kylie insisted on following suit. She actually wore it almost all morning; until she got too hot at the Y.

After school, it was home for lunch, nap and waiting for the plumber! Wait? You didn't know? Mommy got a Halloween present this year: a new garbage disposal! Trick-or-treat indeed!

We took some sibling Halloween photos with the beautiful foliage in the front yard, but we're thinking of our Connecticut family who we haven't heard from in a few days as they struggle with no power or phone service after the amazing winter storm that came in October. The news tells us that Gram and Gramps got about 13" of wet, heavy snow and that many, many trees have fallen. We sure hope they get power soon or that they have found a place to keep warm!

Oh, the Pumpkins outside are Frightful

We've been carving pumpkins for quite some time now, and Will was really looking forward to the big night this year. He's realized that there are "spooky" elements to Halloween and he loves it. Last year, he wasn't into the gooey insides, but Kylie was, at just 6 months old. The year before that, it was just Mommy and Will and Will was very eager to "Hey-yaw" the pumpkin.
Back when Will was just a pumpkin himself, we discovered our pumpkins had baked to death on the porch in California. And our very first pumpkin carving adventure was when Will was one month old! So, as you can see, we have experience and we were ready for this year's project.

First, it was off with their heads! Kylie kept removing the top and peeking in and then replacing the top, only to check again to see if that stuff was still in there.

When we had to get the knives and saws out, Mommy was prepared with a homemade treat to distract the kids while we sawed and cut the pumpkin.

The kids didn't object to the break.

Will chose the spooky witch while Mommy and Kylie did the ghosts.

Preschool Fall Festival

Saturday afternoon was the annual Fall Festival at Will's school. We made it into a Mom and Will only outing, leaving Daddy and Ky home to nap and do homework. We had so much fun! Last year, it was blazing hot out and very crowded but this year it was beautiful fall weather and we got there right when it opened, so there were hardly any lines.

First stop was the barrel train; Will's favorite.

Then it was through the haunted house and the straw maze and over to the hayride. The hayride went across the field to the pumpkin patch where everyone got to pick one pumpkin. Will hugged his. We just love that his preschool is on a farm.

We took our pumpkin over to the zip line and Will zoomed across the hay to the other side where we headed over to get his face painted (twice!) and decorate a cookie. From there, we visited the bake sale, went on a pony ride, through and obstacle course, in a bounce house, and climbed and jumped off of a hay tower.

Will made that shirt he's wearing in school last week. It's hard to believe that he can technically go to kindergarten next year. We haven't decided if he will or not, but he's getting so big!

Fall Fun

This afternoon, before Will and Mommy headed out to the Fall Festival at his school, the kids had some fun in the leaves. Mommy's still experimenting with the full Manual mode on the camera, so it was fun for all. (Daddy was busy wrestling with Tank)
