Holy Beets, Batman!

This morning Will sampled one of his Great Nana's favorite veggies. After showing his surprise at the new taste, Will immediately grabbed for the spoon to check it out. An unsuspecting Daddy wasn't quite ready for little hands and Will got to experience wearing his beets. He was pretty delighted with the new color and texture and he proceeded to decorate himself and his highchair in a pretty purple. Imagine his excitement when breakfast resulted in a morning bath and laundry run!

The Mamarazzi Strikes Again

As Mairead's Mommy calls it, the "mamarazzi" has a tendency to strike when Will least expects it. However, he doesn't seem to mind posing for a few shots as Mom tries out other functions on the camera.

Memorial Day Weekend Part II: Pancakes for Lunch

Having Daddy home for an extra day means a lot more excitement for Will. He spent most of his weekend leading one parent around by the fingers, trying to find the other parent who so cleverly would hide in the closet or in another room. We're not sure who's more tired: the parents or the kid. Then, on Monday, after the Stroller Strides family class which Daddy came to, the boys decided to have pancakes for lunch. Will wasn't sure what to make of this fluffy new food but he's a good sport and tried it. He really enjoyed tearing the pancake to shreds and sampling one of Dad's favorite foods.

Memorial Day Weekend Part I

In honor of Memorial Day this weekend, we got together with Uncle Joe, Aunt Jackie, Joey and Jesse on Saturday. Saturday also happened to be Josh's 3 year anniversary in the Marine Corps...2 years left! We had a great time getting the cousins together once again. With all the boys in this family, rough-housing is going to become a way of life. Josh and Joe taught the boys an important lesson today: brothers are always brothers...even when they are fathers. Translation: you are never too old to give your brother a wedgie. We figure that makes Grammie and Grandpa SO proud, right?

9 months in and 9 months out

Will is 9 months old today! He seems to have enjoyed his 9 months in the outside world almost as much as he enjoyed being inside Mommy. He weighed in at 20lbs. 6oz today at his checkup and he's 30" tall! The doctor said it looks like our little linebacker has turned into a basketball pro. Celtics, here he comes! At 9 months old, he has distinctive opinions on many subjects, including food, toys, methods of getting around and, oh, yeah, baseball teams.

Tigger in Training

Will is very aware of his legs and what they can do for him lately. He has happily discovered how to jump in his exersaucer and his Jump and Go door toy. He also spends most of his time cruising around the apartment or the park holding on to Mom or Dad's fingers. We think he might want to be Tigger for Halloween next year.

If You're Happy and You Know it...

Will's been practicing his favorite song a lot lately. He definitely knows this song because when we sing it at Stroller Strides, he gets very excited to participate. Here he is, performing his favorite song. He's a pretty happy guy, don't you think?

Happy Mother's Day!

We had a nice celebration for our 1st Mother's Day today. It actually started yesterday when Daddy and Will took a "man trip" to the mall. Then, this morning, as one of the joys of motherhood goes, Will was up at 4:30am. Daddy claims he was just excited about the present he hid under his covers (see photos). Turns out, Will bought Mommy a nice Mother's ring with his birthstone, peridot, in the center and room to add on in the event of siblings.

After the excitement of the present and cards, Will and Daddy set off to make french toast for Mommy. Will is such a good helper! The rest of the day was spent gnawing on anything possible to aleviate the teething pain of those top two chompers, playing catch at the park, and ordering a take-out dinner courtesy of the gift card from Gram and Gramps. At the end of the day, Will once again showed his intelligence by spelling out a nice message on the bathroom wall.

Stop and Smell the Roses

Today at Stroller Strides, all the moms got a rose in honor of Mother's Day on Sunday (Thanks, Farel!). Will has been testing out his sense of smell lately, especially with the scratch and sniff page in the book Grammie and Grandpa gave him. He decided to smell the rose that Mommy got...and smell it again, and again, and again....

Bubbles!

When Will and Mommy had a TERRIBLE experience at Walmart today (let's just say it's a good thing Will was there to contain Mommy's Irish temper) and ended up stuck there for 2 hours, the toy aisle provided some much needed entertainment. They bought a bubble gun and after being rescued by Daddy and a nice relaxing bath at home, Will and Dad gave the bubble gun a try. Will wasn't sure what to make of the bubbles that disappeared every time he tried to catch one, but he was sure interested in those magical flying things.

We hope Grammie had a nice birthday today!

Finger Food Fun

Will has become a big fan of "finger foods". He loves to pick up his own food and nibble it with his two teeth. So far, zucchini slices and banana slices are his favorites but Gerber puffs and wagon wheels are a close second. Tonight's experience with bananas almost resulted in a 2nd bathtime. It's a lot of fun to watch him figure out that what he's putting in his mouth this time is actually food and not a toy.

Two Teethfs

Will's friend, Tyler, used to ask every single day, "Does he have any teethfff?" The answer was always "not yet". Then, a few weeks ago, Will started getting his first tooth. Now, he has two teeth and Tyler couldn't be more excited. Will is also pretty happy to use his new teeth when practicing his finger foods, after all, eating IS his favorite thing to do. In honor of his newest development, we bought him his first tooth brush. Now, he brushes his two teeth every morning and every night- just for practice- followed by a quick drink of water...just like Daddy.
