Petey the Dog

While we were at Snead's Farm yesterday, we were sad to learn that our favorite farm dog who followed us everywhere when we went to visit, passed away.  We hadn't seen him the last two times we were there, so Andi finally asked Mrs. Snead where Petey was hiding.  It turned out he had passed away on Saturday after he was sick for a while at the vet hospital.  Will was especially sad about this when we got home, so he made Mrs. Snead a card to remember Petey.

Asparagus Festival

Our favorite farm had it's annual Asparagus Festival today!  It was basically the farm at is always is, with vendors cooking different food, most of which included the homegrown asparagus some way.  We packed a  picnic lunch and headed over for a morning of farm fun with our friends and their Grandma, who was visiting.

Since we go here so often, we sort of feel like it's "our farm", but the dads hardly ever get to join us on these adventures, so it was a very nice morning/afternoon.

In the end, we bought the kids cupcakes from one of the vendors.  They sure earned it running all over the farm!

New Chair

Our new office reading chair arrived on Saturday morning!  It's the perfect addition to the office and makes for a great reading chair.  We've since turned it so it's kiddy-cornered and the kids love to cuddle up and read in the new big chair.

T-Ball Tuesday

On Tuesdays, after Mommy runs and does cycling class, we take our friends home from the Y with us before we head back for T-ball after lunch.

It finally stopped raining and, boy, do the dandelions know it.  Mommy sent the four kids into the yard with instructions to pick all the yellow flowers. That kept them busy for a while.

Back at the Y, Will rocked T-ball.  He had some really great hits off the tee, followed by really understanding how to be a fielder for the others hitting off the tee.

It certainly helps to have your best buddies there with you in the "field".

Mommy is 3-0

Daddy brought home an early surprise this week: a dozen (yes, there were 12 before the camera made it to the kitchen) cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake.  Yummy!  Mommy has nice plans to celebrate turning 30, including a pedicure and lunch with a friend and dinner with Daddy at The Melting Pot.

Project for Ky's room

Mommy undertook a project to make a quote on canvas for Kylie's room.  It's a quote from a song that makes us think of Kylie and we wanted to hang something in her room.  The Internet made this project look like it'd be a piece of cake, but it was really quite intense.  It came out great, though!

Driveway heroes

The other day, Will dressed himself and his sister/sidekick up in their costumes before heading outside.  Clearly, they are becoming experts on giving Mom the old "you're crazy" look.

And Tank is never far behind those two, either.

Opening Day: Will Style

It was Opening Day here in Virginia today.  Will's tee-ball "class" at the Y started this afternoon and he was so excited.  In fact, he packed the car last week with his glove, bat and hat.  Last night, he chose his outfit and Kylie's for the big day.

We took our friends home with us from the Y in the morning so everyone could have a good lunch break before heading back for more Y fun.  We live at that place, it seems.

The coach just sort of threw everyone into the game right away, so there was a bit of confusion but it was refreshing to see Will as one of the big "leader" kids this year.  He still bats lefty and throws righty.  He stepped right up to the tee and smashed the ball.  (don't worry, Gramps, I already discussed his feet placement with him)

They ran the bases once when they hit the ball and then again at the end of class.  By then, though, most of the boys were lost in playing with the dirt.

Backyard Paradise

We were very busy this weekend!  On Friday, we helped our friends hang a hammock in their backyard.  They happened to have two hammocks, so they very nicely offered us the other one for our backyard paradise.  Daddy and Will spent many hours finishing the rock wall and fire pit area and it turned out awesome!

Tank, of course, just lives for weekends when we are all in the backyard all weekend long.  The dog does not have an off switch.

Kylie was, by far, the biggest fan of the hammock.  She's a bit wiggly for a relaxing swing and probably the only person who can comfortably lay on her tummy while in a hammock, but she LOVES it in there.

Eventually, she let Mommy have a turn, too.

So now, our giant backyard has a playground, a tire swing, a hammock, a tee-pee, and a garden box.  Want to come over and play?
