Water Park Afternoon

It had been a while since we were at the YMCA waterpark and we scored some free passes, so we made a date to spend the afternoon there yesterday. The weather was picture-perfect. Unfortunately, it's not easy to take pictures in a place where water and children are flying everywhere so there are very few pictures and none of Will since he spent the whole time underwater basically.

Kylie spent most of her time "swimming" in the water, too. It wasn't nearly as crowded this time around, so she also got to go down the small slide into the pool. The kids scarfed down dinner, swam a little more, and then we headed home where Will laid down in the hallway and asked to just go to bed. Now that's a successful afternoon.

Playground Skills

The kids love their playground in the yard.

Will has started to "pump" himself on the swing and Miss Kylie is fearless, climbing the ladder and the rock wall and going down the slide herself, laughing the whole time.

This picture just cracks me up. Will was hugging her, she did not want to be held back from the slide. No sisters were harmed in the making of this memory.

Icy Fun

Sometimes, on hot days, the kids (and dog) like to play with a giant bowl of ice cubes and some various mixing spoons and ladles.

Kylie likes to shake her whole body and say "brrrr", while Will experiments with watching it melt and shattering it on the concrete. His new response to any form of discipline is to tell Mommy he is going to "melt you", so this helps turn that imagination into science. Right?

As it gets hotter outside, the ice becomes jewlery and hats.

The dog gets right into this activity, too.

The Early Bird gets the Fudgesicle

When you get up at 6am, a 9am Fudgesicle is more like a mid-day snack.

Which Kylie devoured in 8 minutes.

Cars 2 Date

The moms and boys had an afternoon date today! Our big day out included lunch at Subway and the movie Cars 2.

The boys were so excited to see the new Lightning McQueen movie in the theater with popcorn, and the experience didn't disappoint, but the movie sort of did.

Cars 2 was nothing like the original Cars; leaving the moms exchanging wary looks as the characters yeilded James Bond style weapons and the plot contained several countries and what seemed like a million characters.

When the allure of the popcorn and the whole experience wore off, we packed up a little early and headed to the playground to complete our afternoon out.

It was a fun day and the boys didn't even seem to notice we left the movie early.

Dog

Interestingly enough, Tank is most patient and gentle with Kylie. It used to go both ways but now Kylie seems to think Tank is a pillow.

ReCap

Tell us, Kylie, what has your family been up to?

Kylie got her toenails painted for the first time by mom. She was surprisingly good for it, but that might have been the chocolate donut she was sampling at the time.

The kids have gotten a lot more rough and tumble, hands on lately. They wrestle and tickle and chase. Their favorite thing to do is run and hide and then play monster when the other comes into the room.

Saturday morning was Daddy's first mud race. Hopefully, we'll get pictures from his buddy that went with him. It was a 5K (3.2 miles) through mud pits, under barbed wire, over walls and dodging paintballs flying. (Fun?) Josh is really geared up, though, for the next race similar to this, so it's safe to say he had a good time. He placed 28th in his gender group and 30th overall.

On Sunday, Father's Day, we headed out to the lake for the morning. Daddy enjoys the lake with its warm water and wooded surroundings, so that was where he wanted to go for Father's Day. We met up with our friends who were dad-less for the weekend and the kids had fun digging, swimming and playing until the storms blew in.
