Queen Clalifia

When Dad asked to go somewhere this morning, Mom offered the idea of Kit Carson Park in Escondido where they have a sculpture garden called Queen Califia's Magical Circle Garden. The entrance to the garden was locked and there was a HUGE Humane Society dog walk going on at the park, so Will enjoyed the dogs walking while Mom hunted down a park worker to unlock the gate. The sculpture garden was so neat! Will went crazy running all over the garden and through the mirror maze. Each sculpture is made of amazing mosaics that sparkle in the sun and small, smooth rocks that Will just loved to touch.

Later on, just before Will's nap, he had one last big belly laugh courtesy of Dad's antics. It was a belly laugh kind of Sunday.

Sand Castles

It was really warm this weekend, so, we decided to hit the beach on Saturday morning. As we've mentioned before, Will really really likes digging in the sand, and the beach is one big sandbox. What we haven't mentioned is how much Dad seems to like digging in the sand as well. Will and Dad got right to work as the waves threatened their blank canvas.
Pretty soon, though, Will lost interest in Dad's sand castle plans and wandered off to explore more of the beach, collect rocks, and build with Mom.
Mom built Will his very own armchair to watch as Dad continued to build. Dad is a very focused guy, you know.
And he persevered....
But then, Dad tripped on his own moat and fell into his masterpiece. Will declared, "Uh Oh!"
And then he laughed at Dad.
Never fear, Marines don't give up. Dad was right back at it, fixing the sand Pentagon. Will couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Dad was still working on the castle...
So Will decided to lend a hand once more...
And finally, the sand pentagon, with full sized moat, a door and a handi-cap accessible ramp, was complete.

Afternoon Walk

Every afternoon, after lunch, Will takes one last walk to the park before nap time. Mom brought the camera along for today's journey. Playing in the sand has become Will's favorite past time...he could do it for hours!

Weekend Chores

Weekend Chores:
1. Laundry
2. Vacuum
3. Pack
4. Make box house and tunnel

Check, check, check and check! Will was a really great helper this weekend with all the chores we did. On Saturday, we did the laundry and then Will helped Dad vacuum. When he saw Dad get out the real vacuum he got his little push critter and pushed it all over the house right beside Dad, "vacuuming" all the dust bunnies. We spent a lot of time packing this weekend, filling all the boxes people have been so nice to give us. After lunch on Sunday, Will seemed to be missing. Where did he go?

Oh! There he is! Good thing he brought his toy flashlight with him in that box. And Sunggles, too, of course. Then, Dad got involved.

Soon, the box house became a box tunnel and mansion...you know, to accomodate bigger visitors.

And suddenly, every little toy or object placed outside the box was snagged by the mysterious hand under the box...strange things are happening here.

Little Leprechaun

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Our little leprechaun causes his share of mischief around here, but he is quite a character about it. Every afternoon, Will takes Buff for their pre-nap walk up and around the park. Laurie is kind enough to bring along vegetable scraps for the new bunny family living in the bushes at the park. Will's job is to sit at the top of the gully where the rabbits live and toss the scraps down the steep hill. He takes his job very seriously. Most recently, Will has mastered saying the words, "No" and "Don't". He uses these at choice times like when Mom tells him he needs a time out: "NO!", or when a child takes his shovel at the park: "DON'T!!!!" Two years old, here we come.

Horses and Heroes

Will started packing this weekend. What would we do without his help?

After the chores were done, we headed out to one of our favorite parks. We were pleasantly surprised to find a horse competition going on, so we trekked over to check it out.
One of the owners of the horses was very kind and offered to let Will sit on the saddle. Ride 'em cowboy!
On to the heroes part of the post. We don't think Will could worship Josh anymore than he does. The first word out of Will's mouth in the morning and after his nap is, "DA!" As. Loud. As. He. Can. Yell. He runs around the apartment calling out for "DA!" and to top it all off, he threw a tantrum today when Mom tried to push him in the swing and again when she tried to hold his hand in the parking lot. He simply wanted his, "DAA!!!!" I guess Dad is a pretty good role model. I'd marry him. Wait. I did.

Male Bonding:

Don't worry, though, at the end of the day, Will worships his Dad but he sure loves his "Ma ma" (even if he says it like he's got a stuffy nose) :)
