Sports

Will has basketball on Tuesday nights right now.  There's only one more week and this Saturday is Spring baseball registration!

Kylie swims on Saturday afternoons.  We had some coaching troubles but she's with a new coach now and he's terrific with her.  She's the only one in the class so she gets a private lesson.  She does an amazing breast stroke/butterfly kick and breathing thing right now.  It's really beautiful to watch how graceful she is in the water.

Looking forward to spring, though, when everyone can play some baseball.

We also spent a lot of time at the Y last week when there was no school.  Will participated in Mom's Homeschool Fitness class and Kylie and Will both did Family Gym time on Friday afternoon.  We played Lacrosse and Volleyball.  Kylie was the youngest kid there who hung in the whole 1.5 hours and did every single exercise, race and sport.

Another Snow Day

Sigh.  So, it snowed again.  about 2".  No school again.  The kids have not had a full week of school since early December/late November.  And they won't have the chance at another one until mid February when they start making these days up.  Oh well, we make the best of these days.  We participated in a "make Olaf" contest to try to win tickets to the play, "Peter Pan".  I don't know if we will win, but we worked very hard making him since the snow was so fluffy and we had to go out by the street to get wet snow.

We had Alex for the whole afternoon since Izzy was home sick.

Kylie was originally bent out of shape about this, but she soon figured out how to be the only sister.

I'd say it worked out in her favor.

We already have a 2 hour delay tomorrow with a full work day for Mom, and a playdate for Kylie to break things up.  Phew!  This is getting exhausting.

Snow Day 709

Well, the kids have not been to school at all this week.  I think Will has gone to school 6 days in January and Kylie 2 or 3.  It snowed off and on all day yesterday but finally accumulated to something over night.  It is bitter cold out, though.

Will and Tank set right to work wrestling in the snow.

Kylie wanted to sled but it was too powdery to get very far.

So, they ate snow and explored the yard.

We went out two times, with a movie and popcorn in between.  No school again tomorrow which leaves just Friday, which was already a half day for Will and no school for Ky, so it's not looking promising.

Will's basketball

Things have been busy and crazy here since winter break "ended" with a week full of school delays and cancellations.  Will only went to school one full day last week and Kylie also only went once.  Mom still worked all her hours, though, so things were very out of sync.  Lucky for us, Mom works at the Y, which is where we basically live anyway- and kids are always welcome.  Which brings us to basketball.  At the Y!

Will started basketball last week, even though there was no school.  He's one of the oldest this year, which is great for him.

We're back to normal this week, but next week is another short school week as well as the week after that.  Thank goodness we have fun and active things to do that keep us busy and having fun!

SNOW

Last night, it started snowing big, huge snow flakes.  This was not predicted in the weather forecast and it snowed almost all night.  The kids were so surprised this morning to see all this snow!  We scratched our plans to head to the Y and headed outside to play in the snow, after making French Toast for breakfast!  Yum!

It was powdery snow, perfect for sledding but not good for snowmen.  The kids surprised me A LOT with their sledding and snowboarding ability.  Will can really stay up on that thing all the way down the yard.  Last year, Kylie cried and sniffled the entire time she was outside in the winter but this year, she was up and down that hill a million times with the penguin sled.
