Yesterday, Grammie and Grandpa came over to play with Will. Will was pretty excited to see them and have new people to roll around with. We had dinner and went for a walk at the park and then Grammie fed Will his dinner before bed time.
Grammie and Grandpa came to California in honor of Jesse's arrival last week! Everyone enjoyed getting together and seeing the grandsons outnumber the grandparents. Now there's a cousin in each size: small, medium, and large. Come September, the grandkids will be able to double team Grammie and Grandpa!
Despite having a bad cold, Will tries to keep his smile going. He is always all smiles for his Dad in the afternoon, even if he was Mr. Sniffles all day with Mom. He's starting to look so "old"!
Today is Mommy's birthday! Yesterday, Daddy made a delicious cake all from scratch: as in no mixes or ready-made ingredients. He even made the icing from scratch, too! It was very impressive!
Then, this morning, Mommy got to open the cards and packages that people sent. Will was VERY helpful while opening the presents and cards and he made sure to taste everything to make sure it was OK for Mommy to keep. He especially enjoyed the kalidescope of bits of Hampton Beach that Grammie and Grandpa sent. Thank you to everyone who wished Mommy a Happy Birthday!
Also, the "one-tooth wonder" is 8 months old today. He has grown so much taller lately and his hair is really filling out! He got his first tooth last week and he's working on growing three more.
Exciting news in the Platenik family! Today we welcomed in a new member of the family at 2:14pm. Jesse Samuel Platenik weighed 7 lbs, 11 ounces and was 21.5" long. Mom, Dad, baby and big brother are all doing well.
Of course, watching your family grow is exhausting work so when we finally made it back to Vista with Joey and Will, this is what the back seat looked like:
Since learning how to clap last week, Will finds many MANY reasons to clap; including any time he makes a toy light up or make a sound, any time anyone says "Yay!", and every time he swallows a bite of food. He also joins in on the clapping at the end of Stroller Strides every day when the instructors have everyone clap for themselves and their babies.
We needed to find a productive use of this new love of clapping and luckily there is a song just for that! Please excuse the singing, Megan is not musically inclined... Happy Friday! (we're working on the rest of the song)
Will (and Mom and Dad) would like to wish Uncle J a happy birthday today, on this glorious tax day. We hope he enjoys his big 23rd birthday. Mommy would like to remind him that although he is over 6 feet tall, he's still her little brother. Hehehe.
We had record temperatures this weekend here in Southern California! Will took advantage of the hot weather and got out his bathing suits, sunscreen and hats. On Saturday, we took a quick trip to the beach where we sat in the sand and felt the chilly Pacific Ocean. Then, on Sunday, we went swimming with our friends Ali, Tyler, and Colby. Will wasn't quite sure what to make of this giant bath tub but he figured it out pretty quickly and had a good time watching Tyler and Colby jump off the edge.
