We got a cat

The cutest kind.

Summer: Good to the Last Drop

Even thought the waterpark water is bordering on chilly lately, we still try to make it there as often as we can because by next week, Will will be in school 5 days a week and the water park will be closed.

More Playground Milestones

Kylie hopped on the glider this evening and just took off.  After a while, she said, "Will not on here?  Me doing it MESELF!  YAYY!!  Ty-wee! (how she says her own name)"

Monkey Man

Mom could hardly believe her eyes when Will shouted, "Watch me!" from across the playground and then, for the first time ever trying, just swung across those monkey bars like it was nothing.  The boy is STRONG!

Busy Saturday

Daddy was at a race all day yesterday, but Mom and the kids had a very full day.  We started off with some errands, including a library visit and lunch out before heading to another birthday party at the indoor bounce house place.

Then, we had our friends over for the rest of the afternoon, and then made playdough while dinner was cooking in the oven.  After warm showers and jammies, we ended the day with popcorn and a movie!

To Be 5

Our five year old woke up at almost the exact time he was born this morning: 6:53am.  He's always been an early riser, right from the start.  He said the balloons filled with glow sticks in his room made him so happy in the morning.  Yay!  Downstairs, he found 3 presents from his Mom, Dad and Kylie waiting for him plus donuts from Krispy Kreme.  Lucky boy!

After watching his new Mighty Machines movies with Gram and Gramps, he headed outside for some soccer and basketball.  He used his Dick's gift card to get new cleats, soccer socks and shin guards, so he's been trying them out in the yard.

After that, Captain America appeared in the kitchen looking for a snack.  We returned Gram and Gramps to the train station and came home for lunch before our friends came over to play in the backyard on this beautiful day.  It really wasn't hot enough to go swimming, which was our original plan, so we settled for lots of backyard playing before a Chick-fil-A dinner.  One happy five year old crashed in bed tonight.

FIVE

It is so hard to believe this boy is 5 today!  He was eligible for Kindergarten, which starts TODAY here, but we decided to give him that full year so he won't still be 5 while everyone turns 6 during the school year.  Hopefully, he won't start school on his birthday next year because Mommy has a tough time with all this growing up business.

At 5, Will is athletic, confident, an excellent swimmer and very articulate.  He has a come-back and an answer for everything, which is sometimes good and sometimes not so good.  He knows all his letters and numbers and has figured out some sight words for reading.

He's a pretty good eater, preferring standard 'kid food' for his main courses but still enjoying fruit, veggies, cottage cheese, and yogurt.  He was known to have the healthiest snack at preschool last year.

He's growing up right before our eyes, turning into an All American boy who loves sports of all kinds and makes friends where ever he goes.  Happy Birthday, Will!  We love you.

New Toys

Gram and Kylie kicked off their Sunday with matching tattoos while the boys headed to Dick's to "look at basketball hoops".  Then, they spent 3 hours putting one together....backwards (three times).

There was a lot of waiting and watching, so Kylie and Grammie went for a walk in the rain while Gram and Will headed to Target for a shopping spree on Uncle J.

See how it's backwards and they are just noticing?

Ahh...that's better.  Now only if they hadn't lost one of those nuts, they wouldn't have needed the drill press to create a new one.

Oh, wait...there it is!  In Josh's pocket the whole time!

 A job well done!
Moving on, Will got a huge slingshot for his birthday so we had to try it on with some water balloons.

Grandpa's turn...notice Will behind him.

Got you!

 Back to basketball....

 and boxing and playground playing...

and finally, front porch sitting.
