Game 3

Will had another game on Thursday night.  This one was a very low scoring all out brawl type game.  It was more like a tackle football game, bodies were flying everywhere trying to get loose basketballs.

Will got more playing time and even dribbled a bunch.  He needs to work on passing more effectively as he seems to think he can just bat the ball away with his hand mid-dribble to another player.  Usually, that gets stolen.

Lost by 3.  Maybe next time?

American Girl Doll Store

Well, the day finally arrived for Kylie and Mom to have an entire morning at the American Girl Doll store.  Kylie was so excited, we were out the door and up in Washington, D.C. at the mall before it even opened.  We had made a personal shopping appointment and we are so glad we did that, because the store is overwhelming.  It is two levels of all things doll.

The personal shopper meets you in a small pink living room type room and talks to the parent and girl about what you are planning to buy that day and what interests you.  She then takes you around the store to all the things you talked about and Kylie got to fill two bags full of everything she liked.  Then we take that stuff back to the small room and lay it out to make decisions.  This makes it much less overwhelming.  Kylie wanted a doll that looked like her, which ended up being Kit Kittredge, one of the historical girls.  There are some that have characters and names already and others that just have various traits to look like girls.

She also chose a puppy and a couple of outfits to match her doll.

She was in heaven.

After our shopping, we had a reservation at the bistro, where they serve both you and your doll.

Kylie kept saying how it was such a "proper" place.

She had a GREAT time and can not wait to go back again.

Basketball Game 2

Will had his 2nd game on Thursday evening.  This one was against a team that was much more on the same playing level as us.  Will doesn't get put in the game much, but he follows along and is learning a lot during practice.  He seems to get overwhelmed by the fast paced action and would much rather play defense the entire time.

The crowd was going wild during this game, since it was so close.  We lost by 2.  One of Will's teammates even made a 3 point shot.  He said he can't wait for baseball to come back, but just to pass the time, he'll go to basketball.

Basketball Season

Will is playing basketball this season at the Y.  It is the first time he is old enough to be on a team and not at the drills and skills sessions.  Being on a team is hard work.

Most of the kids on his team are just learning the game.  They look very lost out there and play a giant game of hot potato to avoid dribbling near the defenders.

We played against the "ringer" team in our first game.  That didn't help the learning curve.

The green Warriors seemed to have fun and didn't really know that they were crushed.  They practice once a week and play once a week, so hopefully the next few teams will be more on their level.

After Christmas Tree

Kylie had a very bad virus last weekend and was couch bound much of the weekend.  By Sunday afternoon, she had perked up a little and it was in the 60s outside, so we headed to the back deck to make our after Christmas tree treats for the birds and squirrels.

Since then, it has been freezing and very windy, so we have watched the birds from inside the house.
